A fritware tile painted underglaze with cobalt blue, red, and green over a white slip. The repeated pattern consists of ogival medallions formed from saz leaves, filled with a symmetrical spray of blue hyacinths, red carnations, and blue and red prunus blossoms.
A tile of similar design, though substituting hyacinths with tulips, is in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (accession no. 1880:2-1897) and dates to ca. 1550–1600. Another frieze of similar tiles, dating to ca. 1560–80 is in the Louvre, Paris (nos OA 3919/312 ; OA 3919/2 -257.14 ; OA 2733 ; OA 3919/2257 B).
